Shark has launched a new robot vacuum cleaner: the Shark Matrix Self-Empty Robot. This robot vacuum cleaner can empty itself and cleans via a ‘matrix' pattern.
Shark Matrix Self-Empty Robot Vacuum
The new Shark Matrix Self-Empty Robot Vacuum has a number of new features that we have not previously seen in Shark robot vacuum cleaners. For example, this robot vacuum cleaner can empty itself and there is a self-cleaning brush roll.

Matrix Clean and Precision Home Mapping
The robot vacuum cleaner follows a systematic cleaning route in a matrix pattern. Thanks to this so-called ‘Matrix Clean' principle, the robot vacuum cleaner doesn't miss a spot on the floor. “With Matrix Clean, the robot cleans using a precision grid taking multiple passes over dirt and debris, leaving no spots missed” said Shark.

The Shark Matrix navigates via 360 LIDAR vision, which Shark calls Precision Home Mapping. This scans the house and maps it in detail. This enables the robot vacuum cleaner to detect objects and then avoid them.
In the SharkClean app you can select specific areas on the map to be cleaned and you can set cleaning schedules.

Robotic vacuum cleaner empties itself into bagless base
Another striking feature is that the robot vacuum cleaner can empty itself. This is of course not entirely new: we already saw this function during the iRobot J7+ review. What is special, however, is that the Shark Matrix robot vacuum cleaner empties itself into a bagless base. This should not need to be emptied for about 45 days.
The robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with a self-cleaning brush: it can clean deep into carpets, which most likely makes it suitable for removing pet hair. Check out the best robot vacuums for carpets here; these models often come with a turbo function that activates when on a carpet.
Tip: A robot vacuum does not replace a regular vacuum cleaner, as the robot might skip hard-to-reach areas like furniture and stairs. Especially if you have pets, it's advisable to still have a vacuum cleaner on hand. Check out specialized handheld vacuum for pet hair, for example.
Alexa and Google Assistant support
A robot vacuum cleaner is no longer smart these days if it cannot be operated with voice commands. Fortunately, the Shark Matrix robot vacuum cleaner offers support for Alexa and Google Assistant. This allows you to control it via voice and include it in smart home scenarios. An additional tip for maintaining a clean household with pets is to opt for a robot vacuum for pet hair
