Every now and then a new vacuum cleaner is launched that immediately gives me a wow feeling. This is also the case with this new Miele Boost CX1 Parquet, about which I wrote a news article earlier. The vacuum cleaner was launched by Miele with a promising advertisement: with words like Vortex technology and TrackDrive I am of course very curious how this vacuum cleaner performs.
I bought this new Miele vacuum cleaner to test it extensively. Check out all the test results and my findings in this Miele Boost CX1 Parquet review. Little time to go through the complete review? Then go straight to my conclusion.
The new Miele Boost CX1 Parquet is a striking vacuum cleaner: it looks different from other vacuum cleaners. Thanks to the so-called ‘TrackDrive’ technology, it is a very manoeuvrable vacuum cleaner, which you can easily drag behind you. The vacuum cleaner is equipped with many different accessories, including a super flexible parquet brush for wooden floors. It is a bagless vacuum cleaner with very good filters. The vacuum cleaner is easy to empty and maintain: there is even a brush under the hood for the filters.
- Incredibly manoeuvrable vacuum cleaner
- Very easy to maintain
- Looks very beautiful
- He is heavy
- Storage can be tricky
Accessories: unboxing the Miele Boost CX1 Parquet
Let’s start with the unboxing of the Miele Boost CX1 Parquet. As I expected from Miele, this new vacuum cleaner arrived in a beautiful dark box. When opening this box I immediately notice that there are a lot of different suction brushes.
- Miele Boost CX1 Parquet: the new bagless vacuum cleaner from Miele (top).
- Combi brush: a combi brush for hard and soft floor types.
- Parquet brush: an incredibly manoeuvrable parquet brush for vulnerable wooden floors.
- Crevice tool: a crevice tool for hard-to-reach places.
- Soft dusting brush: a brush with soft bristles for vacuuming furniture or small sensitive surfaces.
- Turbo brush: a small brush for easy removal of pet hair (dog and cat hair).
- Accessory clip: a clip to always have the accessories at hand.
- Vacuum cleaner hose: a vacuum cleaner hose with handle.
- Vacuum cleaner rod: a vacuum cleaner rod that is adjustable in length.
Suction performance: suction power on different floor types
Although we know which suction brushes we all get with the Boost CX1 Parquet, nothing is known about the performance on specific floor types. I have extensively tested this new vacuum cleaner from Miele on wooden floors (hard floors), high-pile and low-pile carpet.
Suction performance hard floors (wood floor)
The Miele Boost CX1 Parquet comes with a special parquet brush: it is noticeably larger than other parquet brushes. It is also super flexible: you can also turn the parquet brush crosswise, without it coming loose from the ground. Despite the fact that it is nice and flexible, the brush seems to have some difficulty with coarser dirt.
Particularly large to medium-sized waste is often pushed forward. The brush does suck everything well from the sides. It is therefore a very flexible brush with very soft bristles that protects a wooden floor (parquet) well.
Suction performance long pile carpet
I used the multi-surface brush on deep-pile carpet. This brush is suitable for both hard and soft floors. The Miele Boost CX1 Parquet has enormous suction power, but with ‘one movement’ too little to suck up dirt on long-pile carpet. This becomes very clear when we look at the above research results.
Suction performance low pile rug
The vacuum cleaner has no problem with large dirt on short-pile carpet. With small to medium-sized dirt, it’s a different story: the multi-surface brush seems to push the dirt out in front of it. This is because there is a build-up: the dirt that is pushed to the sides is sucked up by the suction mouth.
Suction power (kPa) and air speed (m/s)
To measure the actual suction power of a vacuum cleaner, I use my suction power measuring instrument in every vacuum cleaner review: this shows in Kilopascals how hard a vacuum cleaner can suck. I use the results to compare the suction power of different vacuum cleaners.
The suction power of the Miele Boost CX1 Parquet is 21 kPa. This is above average compared to other vacuum cleaners. If we look at the airflow, this canister vacuum cleaner also scores well: with an air speed of 41.8 meters per second, there is a very strong air speed.
User-friendliness of the Miele Boost CX1 Parquet
An important part of my reviews is the user-friendliness. In my view, this consists of several factors: the weight is very important, the noise level and the maneuverability of the vacuum cleaner. When it comes to user-friendliness, I look at many different factors to determine ‘how easily a vacuum cleaner’ vacuums.
Weight, noise level and cord length
During the unboxing of the Miele Boost CX1, I already noticed that it is not a lightweight vacuum cleaner. This is apparent when I put it on the scale: with 7.7 kilograms without accessories, it is a heavy vacuum cleaner that is less easy to carry with you. I did not expect this weight at all when I consider its compact size.
The vacuum cleaner has a 7 meter cord. This is not terribly long, but thanks to the somewhat longer vacuum cleaner hose, there is still a large working range of 10 meters. The Miele Boost CX1 Parquet has a noise level of 71.9 decibels. Although this is less than is communicated at web shops* (78 decibels), it is still not a silent vacuum cleaner.
* I always do my sound measurement at the highest power near my ears, while the vacuum cleaner is equipped with a vacuum cleaner rod, vacuum cleaner hose and floor brush.
Maneuverability of the Boost CX1 Parquet
When the Miele Boost CX1 Parquet was advertised, I already got the feeling that it would be a very manoeuvrable vacuum cleaner. Miele speaks of ‘TrackDrive technology’: a technique in which the vacuum cleaner should easily follow you. There appears to be nothing wrong with that. If I grab the vacuum cleaner on top, I can rotate it 360 degrees. The wheels turn without any problem. Even sharp bends are no problem for this compact vacuum cleaner.
The vacuum cleaner has large buttons on the top of the vacuum cleaner: you can easily press them with your foot. The power button makes it possible to set the vacuum cleaner in four different positions.
Maintenance and emptying
A look under the hood of the Miele Boost CX 1 Parquet shows that this bagless vacuum cleaner is equipped with a HEPA 13 filter. This filters 99.95% of the dust particles from the air. The vacuum cleaner has a very easily removable dust container. This has its pros and cons. When you pick up the handle at the back, the dust container clicks out immediately. During my review I confused this handle with the handle a few times to lift it, after which I immediately had the dust container in my hands.
Miele has paid a lot of attention to the maintenance options of the vacuum cleaner. For example, the HEPA 13 filter is washable. Cleaning a HEPA filter regularly ensures good suction power and low dust emissions. But it doesn’t stop there: on the back of the dust container I discover a small brush to also be able to clean the filters in the dust container itself.
Specifications: test results in a row
Now that we have conducted all the studies, it is good to list all the test results. View the table below.
|Suction power||21 kPa|
|Cord length||7 meters|
|Noise level||70,8 dB|
Conclusion Miele Boost CX1 Parquet review
The Miele Boost CX1 Parquet is a versatile bagless vacuum cleaner. Thanks to the included parquet brush, vacuuming wooden floors is no problem at all. There is enormous suction power on every floor type, which is reinforced by the suction power measurement: with 20 Kilopascals, it scores higher than other canister vacuum cleaners that I have tested. The vacuum cleaner is very manoeuvrable, which is mainly due to the TrackDrive technology from Miele. It is also an easy-to-maintain vacuum cleaner: the dust container is easy to empty and there is a washable HEPA 13 filter.
What you do take into account is that it is not a quiet vacuum cleaner: with more than 70 decibels, it is a bit noisy. If you are looking for a vacuum cleaner for several floors, then you may not make a good choice with this vacuum cleaner: with more than 7.5 kilograms, it is very heavy.
