Roborock has announced a new robot vacuum with a built-in voice assistant and a robot arm.

Roborock S8 MaxV

Corners are a big problem for robot vacuums. Many attempts have been made to solve this issue. For example, I previously tested the Neato D8, which, thanks to its D-shaped design, could reach corners effectively.

Roborock takes a slightly different approach with its newly announced S8 MaxV, namely with an extendable robot arm. This arm is equipped with a brush, allowing it to sweep dirt in the corners towards the vacuum.

Equipped with a built-in voice assistant and support for Matter

Another noteworthy feature of this new robot vacuum is the presence of a built-in voice assistant named Rocky. This means you no longer need a special smart speaker to control your robot vacuum with voice commands, unlike many Google Home robot vacuums currently on the market. You can control the robot vacuum with voice commands through Rocky.

Thanks to the combination with the camera, it is even possible to make video calls through the robot vacuum. Yes, you read that right. Finally, there is also support for the smart home protocol Matter, allowing the robot vacuum to connect practically with everything in your smart home.

With mopping function and also suitable for carpets

Roborock promises a suction power of 10,000 Pa, which is quite high for a robot vacuum. The robot vacuum comes with a mopping function. Don't worry about the robot vacuum driving over your carpet with dirty mop pads: when carpet is detected, the pads are lifted. This makes it a suitable choice as a robot vacuum for carpets.

RockDock Ultra: emptying, refilling, and cleaning

The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra comes with the RockDock Ultra empty station. This station not only empties the vacuum but is also capable of refilling and emptying the water reservoir. Moreover, you can connect the station to the drainage system, so you don't have to worry about it anymore.

Price and release date

The Roborock S8 MaxV will cost 1650 euros. There is also a cheaper alternative, the Roborock S8 Max Ultra, priced at 1460 euros, but it has lower suction power, no built-in voice assistant, and no support for Matter.

The release date of the Roborock has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be available for purchase very soon, either in the online store or here on Amazon.
