Yeedi Vac 2 Pro review

Robot vacuum cleaners are getting smarter, which means that the cleaning result is also getting better. This Yeedi Vac 2 Pro also has a few cool new functions, including a mopping pad that makes mopping movements while vacuuming.

To find out whether the robot vacuum cleaner works properly, I bought the robot vacuum cleaner and tested it. I was particularly curious about this new mopping function: how does this work and does it really clean the floor? In the review below you can read my experience and findings with this new robot vacuum cleaner from Yeedi. For the review, I also used Yeedi's self-charging charging station. This self-emptying charging station can be optionally used with this model.

Unboxing Yeedi Vac 2 Pro

The Yeedi Vac 2 Pro comes with various accessories that you receive as standard with a robot vacuum cleaner. You should think of brushes, a mopping pad and a charging station.

For this review, I chose to test the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro with the self-charging charging station. The self-draining charging station costs € 179.99 separately and ensures that the robot vacuum cleaner works independently for longer. See below which accessories you get with the robot vacuum cleaner and what you can use them for.

1. Yeedi Vac 2: this is the robot vacuum cleaner that will soon do the work for you. This model is only available in a white version.
2. The Default Base Station: Yeedi Vac 2 Pro's Default Station. The station has a width of 16.5 cm and is only 8.5 cm high.
3. Water reservoir with mopping pad: the water reservoir can be attached separately to the robot vacuum cleaner. The mopping pad is attached to the reservoir with Velcro and is washable.
4. Side brush: Use this to sweep the robot vacuum away from dust and dirt along the edges.
5. Base: drives the vacuum cleaner up, after which it is emptied from below.
6. Collection container: the collection container is equipped with a dust bag with a capacity of 3.5 liters.
7. Extra dust bag: an extra dust bag when the other is full.
8. Driveway extension: this ensures that the vacuum cleaner does not come to a standstill on the floor with a wet mop, this prevents wet stains on your floor.
9. Mounting accessories: screwdriver and screws for installing the self-draining charging station.

If you use the self-emptying charging station, you can leave the standard base station (2) in the box. There is a big difference in the height of the station. If you have problems finding a good location for the self-emptying station, the standard charging station can still offer a solution.

Installation of the Yeedi robot vacuum cleaner

Unlike other vacuum cleaner models, you need to pre-install a robot vacuum cleaner before use. Almost every robot vacuum cleaner works with an app and with a base station.

The base station must be placed in a logical place and you must take into account sufficient distance around the station. Yeedi recommends keeping a distance of about 50 cm on both sides of the station and even 1.5 meters at the front.

You also need a good WiFi connection to use the robot vacuum cleaner. By downloading the Yeedi app and creating an account, you can easily pair the robot vacuum cleaner with your smartphone. Before I started using the robot vacuum cleaner, some software updates had to be done, but this too was completed within a few minutes.

Suction performance of this Yeedi robot vacuum cleaner

The Yeedi robot vacuum cleaner scores very well in the vacuum performance test. First of all, the robot vacuum cleaner defines its environment by driving along the edges. The Yeedi then sweeps the dirt towards the suction nozzle with the side brush.

The robot vacuum cleaner has a round shape: the dust in the corners can therefore be a problem. This was also the case in our test and the dirt was swept into the corner after which the vacuum cleaner was no longer able to vacuum it.

After vacuuming around the edges, the vacuum cleaner continued zigzagging within the defined area. After having made a round several times, I could conclude that no spot was skipped.

However, the robot vacuum cleaner had some difficulty navigating between chair legs. For example, the vacuum cleaner rode along the legs and got stuck a bit, but after a lot of turning back and forth, the vacuum cleaner was able to redeem itself and there was also vacuumed under the table.

I also tested the robot vacuum cleaner a few times with the mopping function. This worked very well and during the test an old coffee stain was removed well. I also noted that the carpet was well avoided and completely skipped. However, this can be a disadvantage if you have a carpet at a location and the robot vacuum cleaner has to go over it. This space is then completely skipped.

Features of the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro

How well a robotic vacuum cleaner works is often determined by the technology under the hood. This Yeedi Vac 2 Pro has a few cool new features, including the mop system with a vibrating mop. This function should ensure that stains on the floor are cleaned better. Let's take a quick look at the various features of the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro.

With this unique function, the robot vacuum cleaner mops a lot better. While vacuuming, the mopping pad moves back and forth, so that stains are actually removed. Other robot vacuums with a mop simply drive over it. In the settings of the robot vacuum cleaner, you can also choose to have a mopping session done twice. I tested this with an old coffee stain: nothing was visible afterwards!

Carpet Detection

On the underside of the robot vacuum cleaner is a sensor that distinguishes between a hard floor and a carpet. If the robot vacuum cleaner drives on a carpet, the vacuum cleaner knows that extra suction power is required (this can be set in the app). If you have activated the mopping function, the robot vacuum cleaners will skip the entire carpet. This is an advantage and disadvantage. The advantage is that your carpet will not get wet by the water from the mop. You can identify your floor type and plan the cleaning method accordingly. When a carpet is detected, Yeedi Vac 2 Pro will steer away from your carpet in mopping mode and automatically increase suction power in vacuum mode to get the best clean.

Recognizing and Avoiding Obstacles

The robot vacuum cleaner also has sensors with which objects can be recognized and avoided. The advantage of this is that you do not have to remove everything from the floor (think of toys) and that furniture is not damaged.

During my review, I saw that the robot vacuum handled this well. The Yeedi Vac 2 Pro taps lightly against an object while vacuuming and then goes around it. Robot vacuum cleaners that do not recognize and avoid objects simply run into them.

However, you should still take into account small objects that are smaller than 2 cm. It does not recognize the Yeedi robot vacuum cleaner and simply drives over it. Yeedi will note any areas it avoided from obstacles like shoes and cables. It talkes a while before the vacuum cleaner has gone around this and will no longer getting stuck with cables or shoelaces.

Smart mapping and navigation

The robot vacuum cleaner must have completed a circle before it recognizes the room. You then get a visual representation of the space in the app. In the app you can create your own rooms and indicate areas, such as kitchen or sitting area. If a certain area is dirty, you can only send the robot vacuum to that area.

You can also easily create virtual no-go zones in the app. With this you can indicate where the robot vacuum cleaner does not have to vacuum. You can also indicate that the robot vacuum cleaner does not have to mop in certain areas, but does, for example, vacuum.

Automatic emptying of the catchment (optional)

The self-draining charging station is optional and can be purchased separately. The station automatically empties the Robot Cleaner when it returns to the station.

The advantage of such a self-emptying base station is that the robot vacuum cleaner can work independently for longer. You also do not have to empty the collection reservoir yourself and you do not come into contact with the dirt that has been sucked up. A good choice for people who are prone to allergens in the house. The disadvantage of this is that the base station is quite large and therefore takes up a lot of space. Operation: Yeedi Pro in action

Before you can get off to a good start with the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro, the robot vacuum cleaner must first drive a test round. In this test round, the robot vacuum cleaner scans its environment and the robot vacuum cleaner gets to know your house. After the first round, a map of the area appears in the app.

You can then control the robot vacuum cleaner via this map. You can send the robot vacuum cleaner to a specific room or have it vacuum part of the room. You also get to see live where the robot vacuum cleaner is driving, where it has already been and which part of the environment has not yet been vacuumed.

You can fine-tune the robot vacuum cleaner in the application. This way you can adjust the suction power and turn off the suction power if you want to leave the robot vacuum cleaner to mop on its own. The water level can also be adjusted in terms of quantity and if you have a really dirty floor, you can even have the robot vacuum cleaner mopped twice.

As the robot vacuum cleaner gets to know its environment better, the robot vacuum cleaner will navigate better and better.

Cleaning schedule and settings

You can also set cleaning schedules in the app. This allows you to have the robot vacuum cleaner cleaned on specific days and at a specific time.

For example, set the robot vacuum to start at 9:00 am every working day. Don't want to be deposited during the weekend? Then skip the weekends! You can also schedule specific rooms with these cleaning schedules.

The Yeedi app is quite extensive, but easy to set up. Here are some other settings that may be of interest:

• Do Not Disturb: By activating this function, the robot vacuum cleaner will not start automatically. The speaker is also muted and the lights do not turn on. Do you use the self-legend station? Then it will not be activated automatically.
• Auto-boost suction: With this function, the robot vacuum cleaner has more suction power when vacuuming the carpet. This makes it easier for the robot vacuum cleaner to remove pet hair, for example.

Noise level of the robot vacuum cleaner

The advantage of a robot vacuum cleaner is that it can vacuum when you are not at home and you are therefore not bothered by the noise of the vacuum cleaner. Yet in this Yeedi Vac 2 Pro review I also looked at the noise level, because you are sometimes at home when the robot vacuum cleaner starts vacuuming.

Looking at the noise level, I have included the different suction positions in the test. There is a standard mode, but there are also modes where the robot vacuum cleaner has extra suction power.

I also tested the noise level of the self-levelling base station and it came out quite high: 88 decibels (dB). This is not the best quiet vacuum cleaner choice. View the noise level test results below:

• Mopping: 75 dB (no vacuuming)
• Default mode: 66 dB (no mopping)
• Max position: 77 dB
• Max+ mode: 80 dB
• Automatic emptying: 88 dB

If you let the robot vacuum cleaner vacuum in standard mode, the vacuum cleaner is fairly quiet with 66 decibels. When you activate the mopping function, the sound of the robot vacuum cleaner can be experienced as annoying. This is simply because the robot vacuum's mopping pad moves back and forth.

If you do not want to be deposited at all when you are at home, you can also activate the “Do Not Distrub” mode. By activating this mode, the robot vacuum cleaner will not start via the automatic schedule.

If you activate the robot vacuum cleaner manually, no sound will come out of the speakers and the lights will remain dim. Will the robot vacuum cleaner return to the self-draining charging station? Then it will not be emptied by the robot vacuum cleaner.

Maintenance of the Yeedi robot vacuum cleaner

You need to maintain a robot vacuum cleaner regularly. and clean. A white robot vacuum cleaner in particular can quickly look dirty and you should occasionally wipe it with a wet cloth. It is useful to also take the sensors of the robot vacuum cleaner with you, because these can also become contaminated and therefore detect obstacles less well.

You should of course also empty the vacuum cleaner every now and then. The robot vacuum cleaner itself indicates when it is full; when you use the self-empty charging station, you will also receive a notification when it is time to replace the dust bag. Yeedi vacuum cleaner bags are available in packs of three and currently cost €16.99.

Under the hood of the robot vacuum, I discover a HEPA and sponge filter. You should also clean these at least once a week. The sponge filter is washable under tap. You should let it dry thoroughly before installing it again. Cleaning the HEPA filter is also easy: you can knock it out and clean it with the supplied brush.

Conclusion: Yeedi Vac 2 Pro review

The Yeedi Vac 2 Pro delivers good suction performance and navigates well through its environment. The robot vacuum cleaner sometimes has a bit more trouble with chair legs, but in the end it also maneuvers out of this. The only downside in terms of suction performance were the corners, here the robot vacuum cleaner does not reach well and sometimes some dirt can remain.

The mopping function of this robot vacuum cleaner works very well: the vibrating mopping pad is of added value in removing stains. These are well scrubbed off the floor. And thanks to the option to have the robot vacuum cleaner mop the floor twice, stains on the floor afterwards are a thing of the past.

Thanks to the various sensors of the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro, not only obstacles are well avoided: a good distinction is also made between hard and soft floors. Carpets are skipped in this way when the mop function is activated.

The Yeedi app works very easily. You can easily create rooms and define a specific environment. You can also fully automate the robot vacuum cleaner and you can indicate very specifically per day when work needs to be done thanks to the cleaning schedules.
