Eufy Robovac L70 Hybrid Review
Quiet robot vacuum with mopping function. Very tall, cannot vacuum under low furniture.
Last update: December 6, 2023
More and more robot vacuum cleaners are equipped with a mopping function. The robot vacuum cleaner vacuums and mops in one movement, so that you are done with a thorough cleaning of the floor in one go. At least, if the vacuum cleaner does its job well.
A good example of a robot vacuum cleaner with a mopping function is the Eufy Robovac L70 Hybrid. I decided to buy this popular robot vacuum cleaner myself and test it extensively. In this extensive Eufy Robovac L70 Hybrid review I discuss my experiences.
Unboxing Eufy Robovac L70 Hybrid
Like any other robot vacuum review, I'll start with the unboxing. In the photo below you can see which accessories I discover in the packaging.
- Eufy Robovac L70: the robot vacuum itself
- Mopping pad: the mopping pad that can be attached under the robot vacuum cleaner
- Charging station: the base station of the Eufy Robovac
- Charging cable: long cord to power the base station
- Anti-moisture pad: prevents stains on the floor at the charging station
The anti-moisture pad is an interesting accessory for wooden floors. This prevents stains on a wooden floor when the robot vacuum cleaner parks with a wet mopping pad.
Suction performance Eufy Robovac L70
To assess the suction performance of the Eufy Robovac, I tested the robot vacuum cleaner on different floor types with different dirt sizes. I used special floor trays with wooden floors and high and low pile carpet.
It is also very important with a robot vacuum cleaner to check whether it works on dark floors. Many robot vacuum cleaners do not recognize a dark floor and are therefore not suitable for this. I also checked how easily this Eufy robot vacuum cleaner can remove pet hair.
Performance on dark wood floors, carpet and pet hair
The Eufy Robovac L70 Hybrid performs very well on wooden floors. Both large and small dirt can be vacuumed without any problems by this robot vacuum cleaner. The robot vacuum cleaner also works well on dark floors. What you have to take into account is that the sensors for fall detection are less effective here.
The robot vacuum cleaner also works well on dark floors. What you have to take into account is that the sensors for fall detection are less effective here.
The robot vacuum also performs very well on carpet. In fact, thanks to the BoostIQ function, the suction power is automatically adjusted when carpet is detected. As a result, this robot vacuum cleaner also performs very well at removing pet hair.
Thanks to the mopping function, the robot vacuum cleaner is able to not only vacuum the floors, but also to mop the floor. You can manually adjust the mopping power for other hard floor types. Think stone floors. Coming back to the wooden floors for a moment: thanks to the included plastic pad, you don't have to worry about stains when the robot vacuum cleaner parks after mopping.
- Hardwood floors: 7/10 (works ok on dark floors)
- Carpet: 7/10
- Pet Hair: 7.5/10
User-friendliness: how easy does this Eufy robot vacuum cleaner work?
The installation of the robot vacuum cleaner, the ease of use of the accompanying app and the functionalities are important factors in assessing the user-friendliness of a robot vacuum cleaner. I have therefore thoroughly researched all these factors and list my experiences below.
Installation of the robot vacuum cleaner
Installing the robot vacuum cleaner is very simple and can be done within a few minutes. I list the installation steps:
- Find a good place for the charging station*: take into account a lot of free space around the charging station (0.5 meters on the sides and 1.5 meters at the front). There must also be a good and strong WiFi signal and, of course, there must be a power outlet nearby.
- Place the Eufy Robovac on the base station: this way the robot vacuum cleaner can connect to the charging station and fully charge first.
- Download the EufyHome app: you can download it for free for Android and iOS. Create a Eufy account in the app.
- Add the robot vacuum cleaner: in the application you can easily add the Robovac by clicking on the plus sign.
- Provide preferences and settings: you can get started setting your preferences.
* Do you place the charging station on a wooden floor and are you going to use the mopping function? Also place the anti-moisture pad on the floor, so that no staining occurs when the Eufy Robovac parks with a wet mopping pad.
Ease of use of the EufyHome App
The app with which you can control and set up the Robovac is the EufyHome app. This app is free to download and works super simple. The interface of the app is clear, so you don't get lost in the possibilities.
In the application you can view a virtual map of your home. This makes the Robovac Eufy as soon as it starts cleaning.
Features and capabilities
If you do not want the robot vacuum cleaner to vacuum somewhere, you can easily define this in the app with a ‘No Go Zone‘. You can also indicate that certain areas need to be vacuumed, but not mopped. This is called a ‘No Mop zone‘.
You can also indicate that certain areas need to be vacuumed, but not mopped.
In addition, you can adjust the mopping power and the amount of water that Robovac should use while mopping in the app.
Works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa
If you have a smart speaker or smart display with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa at home, I have good news for you. The Eufy Robovac L70 Hybrid is compatible with these two voice assistants. This allows you to operate the robot vacuum cleaner not only via the app, but also via voice commands.
Maintenance of the Eufy Robovac L70
We are dealing here with a robot vacuum cleaner with a mopping function. It is therefore very important to zoom in on the maintenance of the Robovac L70. I tested how easily you can empty and clean the robot vacuum.
Emptying the dust and water container
The Robovac L70 Hybrid is equipped with a 0.5 liter dust container. Since we are not dealing with a self-emptying robot vacuum cleaner (which is the iRobot Roomba J7+, for example), you will have to empty it regularly.
Emptying the Eufy Robovac is very simple. You open the top panel of the robot vacuum cleaner, after which you can click the dust and water reservoir out with the release button. You can easily empty the dust container above the trash can.
The robot vacuum cleaner consists of many different parts that you have to clean regularly. For example, it is important with robot vacuum cleaners to clean the sensors now and then, so that the obstacle detection continues to work properly.
It strikes me that all parts are easy to disassemble, so that you can clean them properly. There is also a washable filter: you can clean the HEPA filter under the tap. See below which parts need to be cleaned and how often:
- Dust container (after each use)
- Filter (weekly)
- Brush roll (weekly)
- Side brush (monthly)
- Brush holder (monthly)
- Sensors (monthly)
- Charging points (monthly)
- Caster (monthly)
- Mopping module (after each use)
- Water tank (after each use)
Soon there will be an extensive article on Vacuumtester.com with how to clean a Eufy.
Conclusion Eufy Robovac L70 review
The Eufy Robovac L70 is suitable for all floor types. Thanks to the BoostIQ technology, the suction power is even adjusted when carpet or stubborn dirt is detected. This vacuum cleaner also works well on dark floors. The fall detection sensors are less effective on this. The robot vacuum cleaner is very easy to operate via the accompanying EufyHome app. You can easily indicate in a virtual map of the home where you should and should not vacuum the robot vacuum cleaner. You can even indicate that he is not allowed to mop on specific areas, because it can be useful if you have a carpet in the house.
