The motor and dust container of stick vacuum is almost always located at the top of the vacuum cleaner rod. Logical: because this way you can easily vacuum under furniture. However, the vacuum cleaner does feel heavier than if the dust container were at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner.
When the Miele Triflex HX1 was announced, I was immediately interested in the Miele patented ‘3-in-1’ mechanism: with this you can move the dust container yourself. I have therefore extensively tested the vacuum cleaner: the Miele Triflex HX1 Power, to be precise. In this Miele Triflex HX1 Power review I share my findings.
The Miele Triflex HX1 Power is a unique stick vacuum: you can place the dust container yourself above or below the vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner is suitable for all floor types and has a brush with which you can remove animal hair. The vacuum cleaner feels heavy.
- Versatile in use
- Good suction performance
- Extra battery
- Feels heavy
- Makes a lot of noise
- No mini turbo brush
Unboxing: what do you get with the Miele Triflex HX1 Power?
The Miele Triflex HX1 Power comes in – as I am used to from Miele – a sleek black packaging. See below what I discover in the packaging.

- The Miele Triflex HX1: the vacuum cleaner itself
- Floor brush: a motorized brush
- Turbo brush: a non-motorized turbo brush
- Battery: an extra battery, I don’t see that often!
- Handle: the handle of the vacuum cleaner
- Vacuum cleaner rod: a vacuum cleaner rod made of plastic
- Crevice tool: for vacuuming hard-to-reach places
- Furniture brush: a small dusting brush with soft bristles
- Accessory clip: you can click on the wall holder (10)
- Wall holder: for hanging and charging the vacuum cleaner
- Charging cable: you can optionally integrate this into the wall holder
Suction performance Miele Triflex HX1 Power
An important part of my review is of course the suction performance. How well does this new Miele stick vacuum cleaner suck? I tested the Triflex HX1 on two floor types: hard floors (parquet) and soft floors (high-pile and low-pile carpet). I also checked whether this vacuum cleaner is suitable for households with pets.
Suction performance on wooden floors, carpet and animal hair removal
The Miele Triflex HX1 Power comes with a motorized floor brush. It has no problem with small and large dirt on soft floors. The vacuum cleaner does not vacuum the floor and slides forward easily. Although I don’t discover a special parquet brush with it, it performs very well on hard floors.
This Miele vacuum cleaner also has no trouble vacuuming different sizes of dirt on carpets. What I do notice is that the suction brush has slightly more problems on deep-pile carpet: here the dirt is pushed forward by the suction brush.
Thanks to the motorized floor brush, removing pet hair is no problem at all. What I find very unfortunate is that it does not come with a motorized mini brush. I want to be able to remove animal hairs on fabric furniture, which is a bit inconvenient with the large suction brush.
- Hardwood floors: 7,5/10
- Carpet: 7/10
- Pet Hair: 7/10
Miele Triflex HX1 suction power and airflow
In addition to the suction performance on different floor types, I also always measure the suction power and the airflow of the vacuum cleaner. Thanks to these measurements I can compare the power of vacuum cleaners. That way I discover the best powerful vacuum cleaner!
The Miele Triflex HX1 has a suction power of 7 kPa (kilopascals). This is fine for a cordless stick vacuum. If we look at the airflow of the vacuum cleaner, I arrive at about 23 meters per second.

User-friendliness of the Miele Triflex stick vacuum cleaner
How well does this vacuum cleaner score in terms of user-friendliness? The user-friendliness of a vacuum cleaner is a broad concept: I therefore look at various factors. For example, I check the versatility, weight and noise level of the vacuum cleaner. Since we are dealing with a cordless vacuum cleaner here, I also examine the battery life and the charging time.
Versatility: “3-in-1 mechanism is unique”
As I just mentioned, this is a special vacuum cleaner. It is different from other stick vacuums thanks to the ‘3-in-1’ mechanism. I can determine myself whether the dust container can be found below or above the vacuum cleaner.

But, why is it interesting to place your dust container underneath? Some reasons:
- The Miele Triflex HX1 can be parked in this way (it remains upright)
- You can vacuum more mobile
- The vacuum cleaner feels less heavy, because the weight is moved downwards
The vacuum cleaner comes with a number of accessories, making it versatile in use. As you can see in the image above (middle photo), you can easily use the vacuum cleaner as a handheld vacuum cleaner.
Noise level, weight and battery life of the Miele Triflex HX1
The Miele Triflex HX1 weighs 3.64 kilograms. This is quite heavy and I must say that the vacuum cleaner also feels heavy when vacuuming. However, I can make the vacuum cleaner feel less heavy by placing the dust container downwards. And that really helps a lot!
If we look at the noise level, unfortunately this is not a very quiet vacuum cleaner. At about 74 decibels, it is quite noisy.

The battery life is fine: with a battery life of 60 minutes, you can vacuum long enough. As I just showed during the unboxing, you even get an extra battery. With this you could vacuum for 120 minutes (!) in a row. And, of course, you always have a full battery at hand.
It is a 25.2 volt Li-ion battery: the big advantage of this type of battery is that it remains constantly powerful, even when the battery is low. The battery needs about 4 hours to fully charge again.
Maintenance: filters and dust container
In terms of maintenance, this Miele Triflex HX1 scores less well in my eyes. I don’t find emptying the dust container as easy as, for example, with a Dyson vacuum cleaner. You have to unscrew the top, after which you can click the dust container out. When you click it back in, you have the feeling that it is not quite right yet, because of a bad connection (or so it seems).

In the dust container I discover two filters: a fine dust filter and a pre-filter. Unfortunately, both cannot be cleaned under the tap, but you can gently tap them. You will have to replace them regularly to ensure the quality of the vacuum cleaner.
Specifications at a glance
Now that all measurements have been taken, it is interesting to list all my findings.
Specification | Test Result |
---|---|
Suction Power | 7 kPa |
Airflow | 23 m/s |
Hardwood floors | 7,5/10 |
Carpet | 7/10 |
Pet Hair | 7/10 |
Batterylife | 60 minutes (x2) |
Weight | 3,64 kilograms |
Noise level | 73,9 decibels |
Conclusion Miele Triflex HX1 review
The Miele Triflex HX1 Power is a dynamic and versatile stick vacuum. It scores well on all floor types and has good suction power. The vacuum cleaner has an excellent battery life of 60 minutes and even comes with an extra battery.
In terms of user-friendliness, the vacuum cleaner scores well: you can place the dust container yourself at the top or bottom of the vacuum cleaner, so that you can also enjoy a parking position.
Unfortunately, I do not discover a brush for vulnerable floors with the vacuum cleaner. I also regret that it doesn’t come with a mini motorized brush for removing pet hair, which I expected.
