Miele vacuum cleaners are popular worldwide. The canister vacuum cleaners are particularly popular from Miele: vacuum cleaners on wheels with a cord, which you can easily roll behind you.
Because there are so many different types (which have a different name in every country), I decided to make a complete Miele canister vacuum cleaner guide per country. In this guide I list all Miele canister vacuum cleaner models in the United States.
Why a Miele canister vacuum cleaner?
Let me start with why a Miele canister vacuum is an interesting choice for many people. A canister vacuum cleaner is a vacuum cleaner on wheels that you can roll behind you. Unlike a stick vacuum, you don't have to carry the vacuum cleaner in its entirety.
A canister vacuum cleaner is a vacuum cleaner on wheels that you can roll behind you.
In addition, you enjoy the following benefits with a canister vacuum:
- There is often a much higher suction power, because it does not work on a battery
- They are often a lot quieter than cordless vacuum cleaners
- A canister vacuum cleaner is easier to use
- This type of vacuum cleaner is more compact and easier to store
Miele canister vacuums with bag versus bagless
Like many other vacuum cleaner brands, Miele offers both bagged and bagless canister vacuums. But, which one is best to choose? Each type of vacuum cleaner has its own advantages and disadvantages. In an earlier article I highlighted the biggest differences between a bagged vs bagless vacuum cleaner. In brief:
- A vacuum cleaner with a bag is more hygienic to empty, and therefore more suitable for allergy sufferers
- With a bagless vacuum cleaner you never have to buy vacuum cleaner bags again
- A canister vacuum cleaner with a bag is often quieter, because a vacuum cleaner bag muffles the sound
- A bagless vacuum cleaner does not lose suction as the dust container fills up
- With a bagless vacuum cleaner you have to clean and/or replace the filters more often
Which Miele canister vacuum cleaner series are there?
At the time of writing, Miele has five different canister vacuum cleaner series, including the recently launched Miele Boost CX1 series. All series in a row:

Bagless Miele canister vacuum cleaner
Miele recently expanded its range with the new Miele Boost CX1. This gives you a choice of two different series if you prefer a bagless canister vacuum: the Miele Blizzard CX1 or the Boost CX1. Let's take a closer look at both vacuum cleaner series.
Miele Boost CX1 series (NEW)
Miele recently expanded its range with the Miele Boost CX1 series. This vacuum cleaner is equipped with Trackdrive technology, among other things. Thanks to this technology, the vacuum cleaner is very manoeuvrable and it easily follows you.
It is a bagless vacuum cleaner that is very easy to empty: the dust container has a capacity of 0.26 gallon. The vacuum cleaner itself weighs 17.9 lbs, has a noise level of 78 decibels and a cord length of 22.97 ft.

As with the other Miele canister vacuum cleaner series, you can also choose from different versions. In the U.S. these are the following choices:
- Miele Boost CX1
- Miele Boost CX1 Parquet
- Miele Boost CX1 Cat & Dog

Miele Blizzard CX1 Series
The Miele Blizzard CX1 Series is the predecessor of the Boost CX1. This is a popular bagless vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner does not differ much from its successor. This is also an easy to empty vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner has a cord length of 22.97 ft and a noise level of approximately 76 decibels.
With 18.96 lbs, it is much heavier than other Miele canister vacuum cleaners. The capacity of the dust container is 0.52 gallon, which makes it twice as large as the Boost CX1. The vacuum cleaner is available in America in the following versions:
- Miele Blizzard CX1
- Miele Blizzard CX1 Cat & Dog
- Miele Blizzard CX1 Parquet

Now that we have also discussed the bagless canister vacuum series from Miele, we can compare them on the most important specifications.
