Good news for pet owners looking to buy a robotic vacuum cleaner: iRobot has just launched a new model that can recognize and avoid dog poop. It concerns the new iRobot Rooma j7+, a smart robot vacuum cleaner that runs on the new Genius 3.0 platform.
iRobot Roomba j7+
It’s been a while since iRobot launched a new robot vacuum cleaner. It’s time for a new and even smarter robot vacuum: the iRobot Roomba j7+. Remarkably enough, there is now a round shape again: last year iRobot introduced square robot vacuum cleaners.
The iRobot Roomba j7+ works with the new Genius 3.0 Platform, allowing updates to be made automatically.
PrecisionVision Navigation
What makes this robot vacuum cleaner a lot smarter than its predecessors is the new PrecisionVision Navigation. This enables the robot vacuum cleaner to recognize and avoid obstacles: if the vacuum cleaner is in doubt, you will receive a photo of this via the iRobot app on your smartphone. You can then indicate whether the Roomba j7+ can just vacuum here or whether it should really skip it.
As a result, the vacuum cleaner is getting smarter and in combination with Imprint Smart Mapping, the robot vacuum cleaners can even recognize your entire home and you can set it to work per room.

Recognizes and avoids dog poop
Another big plus of this new feature is that this robot vacuum can also detect dog poop and other solid pet feces in the room. If he recognizes it as dog poop, he will dodge it and drive around it in a wide arc.
iRobot is confident that this feature will work properly. In fact, the vacuum cleaner brand offers a special guarantee: Pet Owner Official Promise, abbreviated to P.O.O.P. When a Roomba j7+ does run over solid pet feces, iRobot replaces this robot vacuum.
Buy Roomba j7+: price and availability
The iRobot Roomba j7+ is available in two variants: a plus version with the CleanBase and a version without this collection bench. The CleanBase has also been updated: it is a lot more compact than its predecessors. The Roomba j7+ (with Cleabase) has a suggested retail price of 999 euros. Without the CleanBase you pay about 749 euros.
