Recently Eufy presented a new robot vacuum cleaner. This Robovac X8 is equipped with a double turbine for even more suction power and is called an ‘animal hair magnet’. I’m curious if these promises are true: I have decided to buy this new Eufy Robovac X8 robot vacuum cleaner to test it extensively.
On this page I share my experiences with this robot vacuum cleaner. I test the suction performance on various surfaces, see how easy it is to operate and take a look at the different functionalities. Let’s start with this comprehensive Eufy Robovac X8 review.
The Eufy Robovac X8 is a very good innovative vacuum cleaner. The Twin-Turbine actually provides an enormous suction power, which is reflected in the suction performance. The vacuum cleaner is smart, navigates efficiently and is very easy to operate. Emptying the vacuum cleaner is easy and thanks to the dust compression, a lot of dust can enter the reservoir. It is a pity that this model does not have a mop function: for that you have to turn to the more expensive Robovac X8 Hybrid.
- Huge suction power
- Suitable for all floor types
- Easy in use
- Clear app
- No mopping function
- Doesn't dodge cables
Unboxing Eufy Robovac X8: this is what you get

Suction performance of the Robovac X8
The Eufy Robovac X8 features Twin Turbine Technology. Eufy promises a suction power of 2x2000Pa. The robotstozfuiger is referred to by Eufy as the ‘Pet Hair Magnet’. To test whether the Eufy Robovac X8 really vacuums like that, I tested it on various floor types.
The Robovac X8 scores very well on wooden floors. The robot vacuum cleaner has no problem with small and large dirt. Eufy has designed a rolling brush in such a way that dirt between cracks between the laminate can also be properly vacuumed: dirt is lifted up, as it were.
I also tested the robot vacuum on long-pile and low-pile carpet. The robot vacuum cleaner does not experience any problems with this either. Small and large dirt are neatly vacuumed. Thanks to the BoostIQ function, the suction power on carpet is even increased.
The vacuum cleaner also scores well in the field of pet hair. Thanks to the double suction power, hairs are removed well.
- Hardwooden floors: 8/10
- Carpet: 7.5/10
- Pet Hair: 7.5/10
Obstacle detection test: how well does the robot vacuum dodge furniture?
In every robot vacuum cleaner review I do an obstacle detection test. At the front of the Robovac X8 is a bumper. With this, the robot vacuum cleaner gently bumps into furniture, after which it dodges it. Cords and cables are not avoided.

It’s not for nothing that you also get the tie wraps that I discovered during the unboxing. This allows you to hide low-hanging cables.
Usability: easy to operate!
A robot vacuum cleaner takes more steps to start cleaning than a normal vacuum cleaner. For example, you have to find a location for the charging station and you have to download an app to control your robot vacuum cleaner.
Installation Eufy Robovac X8
The installation of the Eufy Robovac X8 is super easy and consists of a few steps. I list them below.
- Place the charging station: take into account 1 meter of free space on the sides and 2 meters of free space at the front. Place the charging station away from the wall, near a socket and in a location with a strong WiFi connection.
- Integrate the charging cable with the charging station: you can attach the cable to the bottom of the charging station, which you can then plug into the socket.
- Place the Eufy Robovac X8 on the charging station: you must first fully charge the robot vacuum cleaner before it is used.
- Download the EufyHome app: to operate and set up the robot vacuum cleaner, you need to download the free EufyHome app. Available on the App Store and Google Play.
- Follow the steps in the app: create an EufyHome account and connect to your WiFi network to connect the Robovac X8 with the application.
From now on you can get started with the Robovac X8 and control it via the app.
Robovac X8 controls and functionalities
The operation of the Robovac is usually done via the EufyHome app. On the robot vacuum cleaner itself you will also discover a number of physical buttons: a button to switch the robot vacuum on or off, a button to return the robot vacuum to the charging station and a button to clean it in a specific place.
iPath laser Navigation
In the application you can do much more. The Robovac uses Eufy’s iPath Laser Navigation. This makes the robot vacuum cleaner a virtual map of the room, after which it can follow an efficient cleaning route. In the application you can create areas in the map where extra cleaning is required; so-called Spot Clean areas. You can also have specific rooms and areas cleaned. This function is called Zone Cleaning.
If you have an area that you do not want to be vacuumed, for example a corner in the room with children’s toys, you can create virtual forbidden zones.
Pairing Eufy Robovac with Google or Alexa
Do you have a Google Home smart speaker? Or an Alexa speaker? Then I have good news for you: you can pair the Eufy Robovac with Google Home (Nest) or Alexa. You can then also operate the robot vacuum cleaner with voice commands. A few examples of voice commands:
- Start cleaning
- Pause while vacuuming
- Have a specific room vacuumed
- Returning Robovac to the Charging Dock
Maintenance: Cleaning Eufy Robovac X8
You need to maintain a robot vacuum cleaner properly. And that’s more than just emptying the dust container. Let’s see how easy it is to clean the Eufy Robovac X8 and how (and how often) parts should be replaced.
Emptying Robovac X8 dust container
The Eufy Robovac X8 uses fabric compression. This makes the vacuumed up dust and dirt more compact, so you don’t have to empty it as quickly. The dust container is super easy to empty: you click it out of the vacuum cleaner, after which you can empty it above the trash can.
Cleaning Robovac X8 filter
You will also discover the filter in the dust container. You can easily clean these with the brush. You can also clean the HEPA filter with water. Hold the filter under a tap (gentle stream) for a minute and then let it dry for 24 hours before using it again.
Cleaning brushes and wheels
You should also regularly clean the brushes under the robot vacuum cleaner. You can easily click the roller brush out from under the robot vacuum cleaner, after which you can easily remove hair and other dirt. You can also use the small brush here.

You can remove the side brush with a screwdriver, after which you can easily clean or replace it. The side brush is washable: you can wash it with water. Do not use it again until it is completely dry.
You will also discover a castor wheel under the vacuum cleaner. If it does not run properly, the vacuum cleaner can scratch wooden floors. So clean regularly! You simply click the swivel wheel out of its housing, after which you can remove dirt. Note: you cannot clean this wheel with water.
Cleaning sensors and charging points
Finally, you also need to clean the sensors and charging points of the Robovac X8. The sensors must be clean so that the robot vacuum can continue to recognize objects and navigate properly. You can wipe it clean with a dry cloth.
Also clean the charging points (both on the charging station and on the robot vacuum cleaner itself) with a dry, clean cloth. If these are dirty, the vacuum cleaner may charge poorly or not at all.

Conclusion: Eufy Robovac X8 review
The Eufy Robovac X8 is a good successor to older Robovac models. Thanks to the double suction power, the vacuum cleaner performs very well on all floor types. Thanks to BoostIQ, the suction power is even increased when the robot vacuum cleaner recognizes carpets. In the area of obstacle detection, the vacuum cleaner scores less well with cables: they are not recognized. You get tie wraps with the robot vacuum cleaner to hide low-hanging cables.
The robot vacuum cleaner is very easy to operate. He creates a virtual map of the room, after which you can indicate where he should or should not clean. You can also have the vacuum cleaner clean a specific room. Do you have a smart speaker? Then you can even control it by voice.
In terms of maintenance, the Robovac X8 also scores well: many parts are washable and easy to disassemble to replace them where necessary. By the way, the vacuum cleaner comes with an extra filter and side brush, so you don’t have to worry about that for the time being.
