These vacuums are particularly beneficial for homes with a significant amount of hardwood flooring. They are typically equipped with soft-bristled brushes or a special parquet brush attachment that gently glide over the floor, effectively picking up dust and debris without scratching or damaging the wood. The parquet brush is specifically designed with soft and long bristles to prevent scratches, making it an essential tool for maintaining the beauty and longevity of hardwood floors.
Canister vacuums for hardwood floors can come with or without a dust bag. Bagged models can offer superior dust and allergen containment, and the process of changing the bag is usually quick and clean. However, they come with the ongoing cost of replacement bags.

To determine the performance of a vacuum cleaner on hardwood floors, we conduct extensive testing in custom-made floor bins. One of the bins is equipped with laminate flooring, and we spread different types of dirt on the surface to assess how well the canister vacuum cleaners remove it.

What I would like to point out
When it comes to canister vacuums, I notice that a special parquet brush is often not included. There is almost always a combination brush that you can click back and forth with your foot to adjust to the right floor type. However, you need to be careful with this type of brush as it's easy to forget to switch it, which can result in damage to your floor.
I strongly recommend you to consider the presence of a special parquet brush.
